"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago...the 2nd best time is today" Ancient Chinese Proverb
A Food Forest consists of 7 typical layers:
1.) Large Overstory Trees
2.) Smaller Understory Trees
3.) Shrub Layer
4) Herbaceous Layer
5.) Root Layer
6.) Groundcover Layer
7.) Vine Layer

You can observe the concept of a food forest naturally occurring on the edge of a woodline. A food forest simply attempts to copy this condition with edible, perennial plantings.
Joe is a native of Western Pennsylvania and I have always enjoyed vegetable gardening and planting trees. I have completed a 54 hour permaculture design course online and look forward to continuing that education.
I have an extensive background in commercial building construction both as a carpenter, supervisor, and cost estimator.
Additionally, I am a guitarist/vocalist and have played in many bands over the years including a premier event band throughout the Mid Atlantic region.
I enjoy spending time with my family or wandering the woods with my dog while designing and building a food forest on our property.
I am excited to help turn lawns into food forests everywhere!
